Bear Products International has opened a governmental affairs office to lobby Congress on various issues relating to Bears. Ursus Lobbius, the BPI Governmental affairs officer, notes "Congress has neglected ursine policy issues in recent years and we intend to bring important ursine concerns to the attention of the legislators". The interview was cut short when Mr. Lobbius left for a pizza lunch sponsored by the logging industry. Before coming to Washington to represent his fellow ursine creatures, Mr. Lobbius had a successful career as a writer. Mr. Lobbius was the author of the acclaimed autobiographical novel A Bear Went Over the Mountain which has been erroneously attributed to William Kotzwinkle. Mr. Lobbius heard that the food was better in Washington DC and that he would have to work less, so he quickly switched professions.
